About Guernsey
Guernsey is considered to be one of the most stable and secure
offshore financial centres, and as one of the Channel Islands is
ideally situated being close to mainland Europe yet less than sixty
minutes away from the UK by air.
Located in the bay of St Malo, Guernsey is about 300 kilometres
from London and
Paris. It is easily accessible from major European financial
centres and is within the UK time zone which enables business to be
done on the same day with Hong Kong and New York. Regular services
connect the island by air and sea to the UK and to mainland
Europe.
It has the benefit of excellent postal and communication
services and many of the
world's major banks and financial institutions have a presence in
the Channel Islands. Guernsey has its own Parliament, laws and
systems of taxation. There is no capital gains tax and
non-residents (which includes trusts administered for the benefit
of non-residents) do not pay income tax on bank interest arising in
Guernsey.
